2Using this website
By using ratingedge.co.uk you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
You may read the site, and print or download pages for your own reference or to show to colleagues or clients. That is what it is here for.
You may not:
- copy the site's text or design to publish or sell as your own
- use automated tools to scrape or harvest the site beyond ordinary search
engine indexing - attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, the servers behind it, or any connected system - use the site in a way that damages it, interrupts it, or makes it less available to anyone else - submit anything through the contact form by automated means, or use it to send unsolicited marketing or bulk messages - use the site for anything unlawful
We may restrict or withdraw access to anyone who does any of these.
3The contact form
The contact form is for general enquiries. Use a work email address - the form does not accept the common free email providers.
It is not the way to apply for access to RatingEdge. Access is by approval and begins with Request Access, which takes you to the platform. Sending a general enquiry does not start an access request and does not put you in a queue.
We read what comes in and reply where a reply is warranted. Sending a message creates no obligation on us, and nothing in a reply forms a contract unless we say so in terms.
4This website is not the platform
These terms cover browsing this website.
RatingEdge itself - the platform at app.ratingedge.co.uk - is provided under a separate agreement. That agreement is shown to you in full when you register, and you are asked to accept it before an account is created. It covers the service, the apparatus, fees, and everything else that matters commercially.
Nothing on this website forms part of that agreement, varies it, or overrides it. If anything here appears to conflict with it, the platform agreement is what applies.
5What this website is and is not
This website describes what RatingEdge does. It is written to be accurate, and we take care over it.
It is not an offer. Access to RatingEdge is by approval, and describing the service here does not mean we are contractually bound to supply it to any particular person.
It is not advice. Nothing here is legal advice, rating advice, valuation advice, or tax advice, and nothing here should be relied on as a substitute for taking proper advice on your own circumstances. Business rates are a technical area and the position turns on facts specific to each property.
It says nothing about your outcome. Where this website describes what the platform does, or refers to how the law stands, it is describing our service and the general position - not predicting what any authority will decide about any particular property. We do not guarantee any rating outcome, any relief, or any saving.
References to legislation or decided cases are included because they are part of the background to what we do. They are not a statement that any particular arrangement is or is not effective, and they are not advice on your position.
6Keeping it up to date
We may change the content of this website at any time, and we may change these terms. The current version is the one published here, with its version and date at the top.
We try to keep the site accurate, but we do not promise that it is complete, or that it is up to date at any given moment, or that the site will always be available.

Where this website links to another site, that link is for convenience. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content.
You may link to this website from your own, as long as the link is fair, does not suggest an association or endorsement that does not exist, and does not present our material in a misleading way.

The text, design, logos and layout of this website belong to Vallion Limited or are used under licence. "RatingEdge" and "Active Property Intelligence" are our marks.
Section 2 sets out what you may do with the material. Anything beyond that needs our written permission.
9Liability
We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows:
We are not liable for any loss arising from your use of this website, or from your reliance on anything published on it. That includes loss of profit, loss of business, loss of anticipated savings, and any indirect or consequential loss.
We are not liable for any loss caused by the site being unavailable, or by any virus or other harmful material that reaches your systems through it - you should have your own protection in place.
This section applies to this website. Liability under the platform agreement is dealt with in that agreement, not here.
10Privacy
How we handle personal data on this website is set out in our Website Privacy Policy. In short: we set no cookies, we run no analytics, we keep server logs for 14 days, and the only thing we collect from you directly is what you choose to put in the contact form.
11Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
